My understanding from talking with Dan the volunteer-coordinator at Off the Chain, was that the first ghost bike at the Tudor and C street location was removed because it broke DOT code for being attached to the light signal post. The current Ghost bike is on a cement base and is considered a free standing object that remain at the location. I'm curious to find out why it's gonna be pulled. The memorial was somber. It all boils down to each individuals sense of right-of-way in shared spaces. I hope we figure this out before another tragic event. Ghost bike removal? That’s news to me. It is a poignient reminder that we share the road and as cyclists we put ourselves in a vulnerable position. We need to be careful out there and motorists need to look carefully before proceding through intersections. The memorial ride was a somber occasion.
